Web Design

  • This Website
  • Overview: Portfolio Website
  • I wanted a website that would showcase my skills in a variety of areas.
  • Responsive Design
  • This was my first attempt at a responsive design. Here you can see the index page at cellphone, tablet, and desktop widths. I always wanted to avoid 'hover' as a trigger because then the effects won't be visible on mobile, so instead I wrote a function that monitors the scrolling of the page to activate the jquery effects. I also implemented Lightbox to improve image viewing.
  • Use of JQuery
  • I used JQuery to slide in and our portions of each page for mobile users. That way, if they aren't interested in the content they can move on easily without endlessly scrolling through images.

  • Brochures
  • Overview: Brochures I worked on for my former Employer
  • I designed these brochures using images and information given to me. Two made it to print and one was never completed due to time constraints. I worked on them outside of my normal work hours for additional cash. The first image is an unfinished mockup for CDC's quarterly newsletter.
  • Heartland Employment Services
  • This brochure was color limited and designed for CDC's Heartland Employment Services which finds jobs for people with disabilities and works with them to keep those jobs.
  • CDC Industries
  • This brochure was color limited and designed for CDC Industries which directly employes people with disabilities and offers paper shredding and other services to companies in the Monticello Indiana area.

Example font I made
  • Font
  • Overview: Portfolio Website
  • I took a font I found in Japanese print and duplicated its design. Making fonts is really hard and time consuming, I don't recommend it!
  • Unreal Engine Game
  • Overview: Team Project For An Interdisciplinary Game Development Class at Purdue
  • Used Unreal Engine's Blueprint system to develop a game about a vampire with a human ranch must get back all his escaped humans after a delivery goes awry and they escape. The player must puzzle out how to capture various humans before the sun rises.
  • Designing A Game
  • We wanted to do something different, rather than follow the common genre conventions such as first person shooter, fighting game, racing game, etc. We settled on a puzzle game that anyone could play regardless of skill level. Once we had the basic premise of a Vampire seeking out humans, we brainstormed types of humans that would allow for interesting puzzles. One of the ones we settled on was a 'Millenial' character who would be too busy staring at their phone to look into the Vampire's eyes to be hypnotized. The player must then destroy cell towers in the level to disable cell service and capture them. This required capturing another human with access to explosives. We designed one level to showcase these puzzles and used macabre humor to entertain the player.
